what it means to ‘talk story’
In Hawai‘i, “talk story” is a simple phrase that means to have a conversation or share stories. ‘Talk Story’ is all about slowing down and taking the time to explore stories, ideas, and histories with others. In Hawaiian culture, talking story is a way to preserve and honor tradition, memories, and history. To me, talking story is about sharing experiences and empathizing with others who may be similar or different from ourselves.
